We are proud to feature Gavin Rubio, an outstanding educator in the Robla School District, as one of the Teachers of the Year for 2025. Gavin has been a cornerstone of the educational community at Glenwood Elementary, where he teaches kindergarten in the Dual Language Immersion program. Over his nine-year tenure, he has made significant impacts teaching various grade levels, including fourth and first grades, in addition to kindergarten.

Gavin's educational career spans 11 years, paralleled by his ongoing commitment to music as a trumpeter and band musician. His ability to connect with students on a personal level, recognizing their backgrounds and eagerness to learn, is what he finds most rewarding about his teaching role.

Beyond the classroom, Gavin is an avid runner with an ambitious goal: to complete all six major world marathons—Tokyo, Chicago, New York, Berlin, London, and Boston—within the next two years. This determination and discipline reflect his approach to both his professional and personal life.

A fun and unique aspect of Gavin’s life is his musical talent, particularly in mariachi. Having played the trumpet for 20 years, he continues to explore and learn other instruments, showcasing his diverse skills and interests.
